Nestled in the pristine waters of Peterson Bay—just a short water-taxi ride from Homer, Alaska—rests a true Alaskan legend: the M/V Valkyrie.
Originally commissioned in 1944 as the U.S. Army Air and Sea Rescue vessel P-750, Valkyrie served in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Following the war, she was transformed into a private luxury yacht by renowned naval architect Ed Monk for Seattle businessman Chris Berg. Valkyrie later became the original Seattle Christmas Ship, a beloved maritime tradition she led until 1967, before continuing her storied life as a private charter vessel based in Juneau.
Today, Valkyrie is permanently berthed in tranquil Peterson Bay and thoughtfully updated to offer an exceptional level of comfort and elegance. Available to a select number of guests seeking an unforgettable adventure, she graciously hosts up to eight overnight guests. The ship features private staterooms with modern ensuite baths, three observation decks, and beautifully appointed grand salon and dining spaces—all supported by onboard electricity and high-speed internet.
Each stay is bespoke. We are pleased to curate your experience with local adventures including fishing charters, glacier viewing flights, hiking excursions, and other unforgettable Alaskan pursuits—tailored entirely to your interests.
